Baby Dedication
Topic: Parenting | 7 Comments »This last Sunday was Joy’s baby dedication. Just in case you have never heard of such a thing let me explain. A baby dedication is when we as parents make a public statement that we will do our best to teach our girl to follow after God’s ways.
To teach her to love and care for others, live a life filled with joy, live in peace, to be patient and kind, to do what’s good and right, be faithful, be gentle with people, and have self-control. Above all this we commit our lives to teaching her to love and follow after God, after all He is the only one who can fully teach us to live this kind of life.
Whether your “religious” or not, I hope you to will commit teach your children to live a life like this. Even more importantly to seek for the truth and not to be influenced by the crowd, media or even our own thoughts of what we feel is right.
Here is a video of Joy’s baby dedication that I believe shows the value and importance of children and having others as a support in raising a child. (Thanks to Norm for video taping this).

So amazing to see you as a proud dad!!! Proud of you Or!! She is super precious!! Love ya
If you don’t mind asking… What faith do you follow? We are Catholic, and we have a Baptism… I have a couple of Mormon readers, and I enjoy hearing about the differences between our faiths as well.
I have a deep respect and curiosity for other faiths.. I always have. On of my favorite college courses was “Religions of the World”.
If you are not comfortable sharing, I understand. Just know that I am asking out of curiosity only (and with respect).

I am a Christian, I guess Catholics would call me a protestant (Although I am not really protesting anything). Yes, our Baby Dedication is like your Baptism (without the water) and we get Baptized later.
Baby dedication is more of a statement made by the parents and later on the child chooses if they want to get baptized (their statement of that they want to be a new person).
I am always open to questions on faith and religion so feel free to ask any time.
I’ve never heard of a baby dedication before. Good for you. Sounds like your daughter is headed down the right path.
I believe religion is a very important part of raising children. I commend you for supporting and encouraging your daughter in your faith. It will make her and your family stronger as you grow together.
We’re right there with you and have dedicated all of our boys as well. Congratulations!!
