Spicy Latte
Topic: Food | 9 Comments »Coffee ROCKS!
I don’t care if caffeine is bad. I LOVE COFFEE! I love it hot, cold or any style of coffee.
My wife would never drink coffee. That is until I served her one of my cold coffees. I like flavored cold coffee.
Lately it was the latte that has been the drink of choice. I don’t have a fancy espresso machine. I wish I did. Since my wife never drank coffee before I could not justify spending a couple hundred dollars on an espresso machine.
I have had to make do with a regular coffee machine. So tonight I will share my latte making process.
- Start by making about 3 cups of very strong coffee with espresso beans ground fresh and fine (sometimes I will pour it through the filter a second time).
- Put in an new filter with about an eighth of a teaspoon of each of cinnamon and nutmeg and a tiny shake of cloves and mace.
- Pour the coffee through the spice filter a couple of times.
- Warm about one and a half coffee cups of milk.
- Once done fill two coffee mugs three quarters full of milk and top up with coffee.
- Mix in about a teaspoon of sugar.
Of course every time I make it I make it slightly different and it is easy to change the amounts of spices to your liking.
You can even replace the spice with any of the following:
- vanilla extract
- chocolate syrup
- maple syrup
- caramel extract
- mint extract
- rum extract (I don’t drink alcohol but I am sure you can use the real thing)
Chocolate syrup was what got my wife hooked. For me coffee is what keeps my world going.
What is your favorite coffee? Any tips you would like to share?

I have a machine if you want to buy it
My wife got it thinking she’d save money at Starbucks. Yeah, that worked out well. You’ll have to dust it off
My wife is like you, doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold, she’ll drink it if it’s related to coffee in any way.

No coffee here, Dr Pepper. And when it is really, really cold outside, I stick with DP. Do one thing well, I say.
But we did finally buy a coffee maker to keep the grandmas happy. And we throw Starbuck’s beans in it. Makes the house smell good AND keeps granny happy.
Heh, I’m more of a hot chocolate person but I do say even that latte sounds pretty good.
Also, thanks for stopping by my blog, I appreciate it and I will return to yours.

My fav is General Foods French Vanilla. It’s instant, but I love it. But I’m trying to get off the coffee kick. It’s been almost two weeks since I had coffee. I use to drink about four cups a day.

I love coffee too. My favorite is Community Coffee. It is the state coffee of Lousisana but you can get in in Texas also. If you ever see a red bag of Community Coffee at your local grocer, make sure to snag a bag.

I would need to have some caffeine before I could go through all that! But, I do like to sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the grounds in my coffeemaker before I hit the brew button. Mmmmmm. Coffee.
