The Cliff Hanger.
Topic: My Story | 7 Comments »My brother is one of those outdoor guys. He does the farming thing, wears cowboy boots and chases cows. He almost qualifies for a red neck. (just kidding little bro).
Me? Well I am the geek who sits indoors and writes code for fun. (not joking, honestly I wrote a print.css file last Sunday afternoon for someone so they could print their blog.) Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the outdoor things.
Last weekend I was over at his house and we decided to take a little trip on his quad. We stuffed his video camera and my camera in to my camera case and strapped it on the front of his quad. I thought this would be a great opportunity to get some great photos.
Now just so you know I am deathly afraid of heights. I am lucky if I can make it to the top of a eight foot ladder. My little bro wanted to take me up to the top of some cliffs we could see from his house.
His in-laws property goes back to the edge of the cliffs where they raise some cattle. (We buy beef from them. It is the best cow you will ever eat.) It was about a twenty minute ride around back of the cliffs. The top is a provincial park.
It was nice that the ground was frozen so it was not muddy. The trip to the top was quick and easy and what an amazing view. My bro, however, nearly made me puke my guts out as he would walk within a couple of feet of the edge of the cliff. Not only that but on the second set of cliffs he held on to a tree and hung over the edge of the cliff video tapping straight down the cliff.
The first photo you see is of my bro in his farming outfit about two feet from the cliff. He says if you look down the cliff you can sometimes see moose. I don’t really care how amazing those moose are, no moose is worth looking down the edge of a cliff for.
Apparently a couple years ago some snow mobile riders drove over the cliff. If you look at the photo labeled “The Cliff” you will see that it is not a cliff you want to go over.
That is about all the cliff I could handle for now. For the next little while I will be happy just sitting by the glow of my LCD screen, sipping a latte and blogging.
If you would like to see a nice pan shot click on the “Cliff Pan” photo to view full size.
The final photo is the back side of the third cliff. Thanks Vird (my little bro, who by the way is a little bigger than me) for the great trip!
