Thank you for the response way back, by the way! I noticed the activity on your Shaw VS Telus page today and thought I might share my story as well...

It all began when... we had the misfortune of moving while Telus was having labour difficulties. To a frustrated customer this meant: no phone or internet service for over three months, being on hold for over an hour every time you called Telus, being billed for the three months we had no service. Imagine the frustration.

I vowed to switch providers as soon as one came to town and when Shaw came to town I was one of the first to change over. They were cheaper too!

Happy Shaw customers we were until... five years later, Telus reps start to call, offering --- Phone & Internet for $24/month for an entire year ---. I say no no no, then one day I break (finances are very tight right now) and say sure, I'll switch back to Telus (I'm paying $70/month for phone & internet with Shaw), I give them all the information they need, they give me a confirmation number. And despite the huge feelings of guilt and recrimination for turning my back on my vow, I think: I'm saving my family $50/month. One week later, I get a call from another Telus rep, with the same sales pitch.

Apparently, they have no record of me switching to Telus!!! Can you believe it?!? It appears they are still completely incompetent!

In conclusion, I have reaffirmed my vow to never leave Shaw, or at least to never go back to Telus!!!

Thanks for your blog!!!I love your topics!!!

We went through almost the exact same thing! Check out my other post (<a href="//dadsworkbench.com/2009/05/13/telus-and-hell-merger/). I hate Telus now. In the end Shaw was cheaper for us anyways and the service kicks but on Telus. I never plan to use them again, we even changed our phone service over to Shaw." rel="nofollow">Telus and Hell Merger/</a>). I hate Telus now.
So I had a shaw bundle for years and never had any problems with them. About 6 months ago I kept on being harassed by a representative (telemarketing firm) on behalf of telus. We were told we could get every single tv channel, 'highest' speed Internet, and phone bundled for $50 / month. I said that can't be true and there has to be hidden costs to this. I was told no hidden costs. $50 a month. I still didn't believe this and spent 20 minutes being reassured because I was happy with shaw...and then I said, "I will take it". Well the high speed Internet is terrible...possibly because they didn't give us their best Internet like they said or they just changed it to their worst Internet along with our $50 bundle that 'Magically' never existed. The $50 bundle lasted for one month to lure us in and then went up to $78 / month. The Internet craps out all of the time, gets really slow and when you reset the modem, the Tv resets as well. I spoke with a telus rep within the first week and he looked at the account and said, 'How did you get that deal? I don't even get that and I work here.' Well 6 months later there is no record of ever having that deal. Don't get lured into telus promo deals. They will not honor it. I rather pay shaw's higher price for better quality.

Telus is horrible, internet was bad and took forever to get it working (even though I previously worked for an internet service provider). Then... we moved and tried to get our phone moved over it was VERY VERY bad service. I don't plan on ever considering Telus again. If you want to hear what happened with Telus read a little of what happened on the post <a href="http://dadsworkbench.com/2009/05/13/telus-and-hell-merger/" rel="nofollow">Telus And Hell Merger</a>. Now we have Shaw Internet and Phone service and love it. If we want TV we would use them too.

Once in a while it does slow down but beats Telus!

Just read a bunch of your blog, love it by the way! I only found you by googling "shaw vs telus", and am in the same quandary you once were... wondering how it went for you, who did you choose? And how did it go?
