Telus And Hell Merger
Topic: My Story | 9 Comments »I heard of customer service problems with Telus (our phone company) but I didn’t really believe it. Now I am a believer, I believe that Telus and Hell are merging. At the vary least the devil and his crew run the customer service department.
Let me give you a brief summary of a month in telephone hell.
One week before we move we called our phone company to get everything setup at our new home and cancel our service in the place we were living in. We where told our new phone number and were informed we would be out of service for up to 48 hours.
We were also given a phone package for $20.95. Waiting 48 hours for a phone was a bit much but acceptable to us. This was to be done by May 1st.
After being with out a phone for just over 48 hours my wife phoned to check what was going on. Apparently the devils associate…I mean..ummm…”service” agent messed up and now it will be May 9th to get a tech out. Since we didn’t have a cell phone (and even if we did) that was NOT acceptable to us. So finally they agreed to have it set up on the 5th of May and a free month for our troubles.
May 5th our phone was up and running. So what was our problem? After having called all our billing companies, family, work, and whoever else about our new phone number we found out they gave us the wrong number but our call display local and long distance were working.
Rather than having to call everyone back we thought asking Telus to give us the correct number would be simple. What? Telus? Simple? Of course not! Every couple days we would call and they would say they are in the process and it will take 24-48 hours.
Finally on may 11th we got our proper phone number. We thought this was all done and over. But wait, like the Energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going. Now we lost our call display and long distance. My wife couldn’t call her dad who lives 45 out of town because the phone would say “You are not permitted to make this phone call”.
So my wife called and the same answer “Just wait a few hours”. Then she called a day later and apparently we were signed up for a package for over $60 and the package we were supposed to have is actually $24. (Don’t get me started on their Internet package, I tried it for a month).
So my wife launched a “formal” complaint. After she described the the above story to the agent she said that when she hangs up she is going to call Shaw Cable about VIOP service. The agent said they didn’t want to loose us so he transferred her to another person about the issue.
The next lady finally agreed to give us the original phone package for $20.95.
Oh one more little catch, the free month that we were going to be given, well it will not be until next month. This months bill will apparently have a whole bunch of strange stuff on it.
I guess the next few days (or weeks) will tell if Telus can stay true to their word. I mean there must be atleast a couple of good people left in hell… right?

In the fall we cancelled our cell phones and had a home phone added to our Shaw account since we already had cable and internet. We’ve never had any issues at all with any of them.

I have a couple soup cans and string if you need to borrow them.

Yes, I see. Tin cans are the choice of the future. I guess I should have listened to my mom better when I was 5. She always said that cell phones would give you cancer and tin cans would do just as good. Thanks, all for the tips!
More and more I am thinking about that too. I am sure it won’t be long before we do the samething.
That’s awful. Sounds like as much fun as my dealing with AIG Life.

Just a heads up, Shaw service is NOT VOIP. No router or internet connection required.
Your right, it’s through our phone line. Doesn’t matter to us, we just want to have a phone and proper service.
We did switch over to Shaw and love it. We will never go back to Telus.
