Camping Round II

Camping Round II

This year was camping trip number two for our daughter (third trip for the two of us). Last time she was 3 months and some people thought I was a crazy dad. This year she was 14 months and I now think I have gone crazy. It was lots of fun but with a 3 month we had plenty of time to relax and rest our selves. This year it was walking, watching, carrying, yelling “be careful”  and trying to entertain her.

This year was a lot of work but it was still fun. This time we had perfect weather and lots to see and do. There was some real nice nature walks through the forest, Water falls, lake, lagoon for swimming, and even camp fires where allowed. We tried a new camp ground this time and it was well worth it. It did, however, take us three hours to driver there but it was worth it.

We had six nights in a tent. Which meant hours of walking each night as it was bright out and was hard to get Joy to go to bed. Then again it is always hard to get her to go to bed.

She now has the nickname of “little princess” as we found out she hates dirt. She normally uses her hands to get up when she falls down but since she does not like dirt she would sit there and cry until we set her back on her feet. If her hands happened to touch the ground she would try and pick off the gravel off her hands and then hold them up for us to wipe them off. Near the end of the trip she got a little braver and had more fun wondering around.

Next year I am not sure were we will go but I can see that as she gets older camping will only get better. It was always something I loved to do and I will enjoy sharing the experence with our children. Burnt hotdogs, campfire coffee, roasted marshmellows, sitting under the stars, listening to the owls, and swiming in the lake. This are the things all kids should have as memories with their mom and dad.

See our last trip in my post Camping In The Rain when Joy was 3 months old. You can also see some photos of her playing in the lagoon at Orlund.com as one of my sets of photos series Little Mermaid.
