Watchout for those apples
Topic: My Story | 5 Comments »Lookout for apples
Today we went to a farm where you can buy fruits, veggies and pies. It is about an hour drive and my wife and I would go there just for something to do on a Sunday afternoon. At the time I was working at a call center so we usually had “low budget” dates and we always had fun on the drive.
Now I make nearly double the income but have a kid so we now have “low budget” family dates. There used to be gigantic rabbits at the farm (kind of like the man eating rabbit of Monty Pythons “Holy Grail” but much fuzzier and friendlier). We thought it would be fun to take her see them and maybe to buy some fruit to freeze for the winter. Like maybe some apple sauce. But there were no gigantic rabbits or much fruit. The little fruit they did have was priced more than at our local store.
Although the fruit shopping disappointed us we had a fun drive and walk through the apple orchard. Little apples are apparently big for a little girl. As you can see in the photo above she is scanning the ground for apple landmines.

I like that photo. Kinds sums up how a child can add color to a black and white world.

Ha ha. Matthew and I were just talking yesterday about how our income has nearly tripled since before we had the kids, yet we still cannot afford a decent night out. Oh well, creative and cheap dates are often more fun than the standard dinner and a movie anyhow. Cute pic.

Beautiful Orlund and can they ever add color……… they are such a blessing!!! XOXO
Make sure you return in the Fall when the apples are ready. We make it a family outing each year. Unfortunately, the apples are priced for ambiance here too.

looks like a lot of fun. Too bad there wasn’t much fruit to be had. Like you say though, sometimes it’s the journey that is the fun part.
