Here is our little girl Olivia. She seems to be the quieter one so far but as you can see she is a very happy one. She is now at the stage where she likes to play.

She also likes to watch her older sister and mom. The other day I caught the two of them looking each other in the face and talking back and fourth. You can see that they both want to play with each other. It is going to be lots of fun to watch them grow up together.

My sister left her glasses at our house the other day so we thought it would be fun for my wife to try them on. She was laughing in the bath room in front of the mirror because she thought she looked like a teacher.

I think she looks pretty good in those so I think I am going to buy her a pair of those. Or maybe just not return them to my sister… but I think she will notice sooner or later. Oh well, it made for a fun night of photos.

Thanks Twy!

Back in my day only the little skater boys would where there pants low and show some crack. Now days even the little girls are showing off there stuff. I have tried to talk to my two month old daughter about being “modest” and dressing “lady like” but she just stuck her tongue out at me and made faces. What is this world coming two?

Maybe I am one of those over protective dad’s living in a bubble but when I was a kid girls were girls and boys were boys. Now days boys dress like girls with skinny jeans and girls show their crack. And those who you think are women are actually men and vise versa.

I suppose I will take it easy on her for now, after all she is only 70 days old. Besides that, I think it was her mom that dressed her that morning.

Recently we took a trip with our girls. They had to ride almost nine hours each way (including breaks). So we had to stop lots to let our oldest girl out to stretch her legs and run around on narrow strips of grass beside gas stations and highways.

At one place she spotted butterflies and caterpillars. At first I didn’t know what she was pointing at. She kept saying “Dat, Dat”, so I told her “That’s dirt” but she wouldn’t let up. I took a second look and saw it was a butterfly. The one was so tame that my daughter was able to pick it up by the wings. She only held it for a split second and then let go but she was really amused by them.

Later she found a caterpillar. When it was time to go it was hard for her to say good bye to her new little friends and get back into a car seat for another 2 hour ride home.

Little sister Olivia didn’t know any better so just went back to sleep.

When life is slow there is nothing to write about, when life is busy there is no time to write. So as you may have noticed by the lack of posts, our life has been extremely busy. But the one even I can not miss writing down and that is my daughters birthday.

She is now two years old and birthdays are a lot more exciting. In fact, it was so exciting that for the rest of the week she walked around with a toy plate and pieces of toy cake trying to sing happy birthday. Being the center of attention really got to her head, but I suppose that is OK for now.

Besides her new born sister, she also had a cousin and a friend over. Together they all worked on opening the gifts. It was fun to watch the three little girls go crazy on there sugar high from the cake and juice.

Since there is not much more to say about a two year old’s birthday, here is a photo of the team work in action:

This was the first Easter egg hunt for my daughter who is now two. She had lots of fun. I didn’t think she would figure it out but she did. She likes to put things in baskets and bags, so once we helped here with about two of them she was ready to go.

I placed one special egg with a little plastic rabbit (that hops). She looked at it and got excited, however, it was different than the other eggs so she didn’t want it in the basket. In fact, she changed her mind and decided that she didn’t like it.

She had so much fun. We told her “done… all finished”, but she looked really hard with a serious face just in case there was more. We had to sneak a few out of her basket and through them around the lawn when she wasn’t looking. She just didn’t want to stop.

In my family we ate the chocolate eggs and bunnies but didn’t have Easter egg hunts or celebrate Easter bunnies. I suppose I could never quite figure out how the Jesus dieing turned into a fuzzy bunny and chocolate.

Last night laying in bed thinking about it I think I figured it out. Jesus died on Friday, there were three days before he rose again until on Monday. I figured this, the women who knew Jesus where dealing with their grieving by eating chocolate. Them men had to get there minds off it by doing something crazy like inventing a Easter clown and dressed up a bunny.

That may not be the case but I am glad Jesus rose again and put things back in order. What would have been next? A fat hairy old clown in a red and white suit sliding down chimneys, taking peoples milk and cookies and leaving toys in its place? Maybe riding reindeer?

How do you get a Easter bunny and chocolate eggs out of someone being gruesomely crucified? However people twist and change these stories I don’t what to know. For now I will put up with it and have some fun it but I will never for get the real reason why we have some of the best holidays of the year.

I decided to try a egg hunt mostly for my wife’s sake. She grew up with Easter egg hunts. The best part of it was watching our daughter look around for them. If you went back just a couple of months she probably would have and no clue what to do. She would have been given one egg and she would have sat there playing with it and inspecting it. Now she was having fun looking for them and putting them in the basket.

I think it is a great way for her do something outside. If a bunny can manage to lay egg, a chocolate egg, who says it has to happen only once in April. I’m going to do my part in creating ridiculously crazy holidays and add to the story. My Easter bunny is on a monthly egg laying cycle. Why? I like chocolate.

Happy Easter!
